For decades, the budget segment has been the strong point of Maruti Suzuki. Based on the #1 passenger car manufacturer's title in India, the brand offers competitive products in all the segments. That being said, now Maruti Suzuki is exploring the premium car market space. The Maruti Suzuki SX4 is the new car in the premium segment with spacious cabin and strong performance. Here we will have a look at the quick review on Maruti Suzuki SX4 car. We will cover the exterior, interior, engine specifications and pricing of this car.

Exterior

The design, quite honestly, is not the most powerful S-Cross feature. Although styling is not bad, it feels like a generation behind in contrast to new competition. It's not bad, but it lacks completely the wow factor. The S-Cross has a length of 4,300mm, a width of 1,765mm, a height of 1,590, Wheelbase of 2600mm and a ground clearance of 180mm.

The S-Cross on the front is very attractive and has a fairly new design. The twin-layer, black plastic chrome grill is a neat touch in and around this area. The headlights setup that gets HID + projectors and DRLs is what really stands out on the front end. Below is a round fog lamp with chrome accents. Bumpers have black plastic cladding. To complete this SUV-ish look, Maruti Suzuki has added the silver plastic skid plate on the rear bumper.

Interior

In the S-Cross, you're given this sporty feeling in all-black interiors with silver accent. In addition to quality plastics, we have to agree that this is the best looking cabin in a Maruti Suzuki interior. The S-Cross dashboard is all black, with silver accents on the door pads around the AC vents, centre panel and equipment panel. Soft-touch plastic is used on the face of the dashboard.

Maruti provides a three-speed steering wheel wrapped in leather in the S cross. Steering controls mounted include audio on the LHS, cruise controls on the RHS & mobile controls on the bottom. With a MID in the centre, the cluster of instruments receives white and blue light. MID displays information such as clock, external temperature, DTE, travel metre, rpm, fuel economy, mean fuel economy, average speed and velocity. The start/stop button of the engine is positioned on the RHS of the column of the steering and gets a round chrome.

The Centre panel looks good and the coloured infotainment system with a touchscreen surrounded by black gloss plastic is available. This 'intelligent system has GPS navigation preloaded. Touch interface is good and the music system sound output by OEM standard is above average. You can also download a mobile app to replicate your display on the infotainment screen from your smartphone. Below is a white display with automatic climate control switches. AC performance was fine, but at higher fan speeds the blower was a bit audible.

Engine

Two Fiat-sourced diesel engines are used for the power supply in S-Cross. One of the engine is the famous 1.3L and the other is the 1.6L engine, which debuts Indians through the S-Cross. Based on torque figures, Maruti likes to name them DDiS 200 and DDiS 320.

The engine DDiS 200 is a 1.3L multi-jet unit with a 5-speed manual gearbox producing 89 BHP of power & 200 nm of torque.  The DDiS 320 engine is a 1.6 L Fiat-based, 118 BHP power & 320 Nm torque Multi-jet unit that is matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

In view of market inclination for oil burners in this segment, Maruti Suzuki will not offer petro powered version in the S-Cross. In addition, for India an automatic version or an AWD version is not currently scheduled.

Safety

The S- Cross's riding quality is very good and its suspension configuration keeps the car balanced at high speeds. We drove off the roads very fast, but the S-Cross managed to keep the humps away. However the thuds of suspension can be heard. However the S-Cross still lacks somewhat compared with the Duster. Duster can just float across any terrain, while in the S-Cross you must be a little cautious. Overall, the ride and handling package for the S-Cross is mature. All four disc brakes are combined with ABS braking performance. The JK tyres also work well with a decent grip on dry and wet surfaces. The car has good airbags for accident prevention. In an overall way, the car is a very safe car to drive.

S-Cross Price

S-Cross price begins at RS. 8.39 Lakh and extends to RS. 12.39 Lakh. The price of S-Cross petrol varied from a total of 8.39 Lakh to a total of 12.39 Lakh. Here we are talking about the on-road price of the car. With premium features, it is a value for money package.
